This session begins with a exploration of a framework for understanding the aftereffects of abuse and trauma. Participants are then offered a series of specific processes for helping both adults and young persons to both cope with and heal from trauma. The methods discussed in this session represent recent advances in therapy and treatment including methods to promote well-being (posttraumatic growth) as a means of preventing the relative influence of future traumatic experiences.
