About this live event

In this 3-hour training for mental health professionals, participants will explore the trauma and resilience within the context of mental health. With seventy percent of adults in the U.S. having experienced some type of traumatic event at least once in their lives, it is essential for mental health professionals to have a strong foundation in addressing the impact of trauma. From theory to application, this presentation will provide an exploration of how the brain responds to trauma and fosters resilience. In this presentation, participants will learn skills to support clients in building resilience. Emphasizing evidence-based techniques, the training addresses strengths identification, effective interventions, and the creation of a supportive environment conducive to resilience.

  • Katelyn Baxter-Musser, MSW, LCSW, C-DBT, C-PD

    Katelyn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker coming to Maine by way of Mass, D.C., and Arizona. Katelyn earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from American University in Washington D.C., with a Minor in Criminal Justice. Katelyn then moved to Arizona where she obtained her Masters in Social Work from Arizona State University, along with a Graduate Certificate in the Assessment of Integrative Health Modalities. Katelyn’s clinical experience includes working for ten years in various roles as a case manager, child and family therapist, trauma therapist and clinical coordinator. Katelyn has worked in agencies, on Native American reservations and currently is in private practice. Katelyn works with children starting at age 4, adolescents and adults. Katelyn works with people individually, as a couple or as a family.

    Katelyn is trained in and uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including DBT, CBT, TF-CBT, Mindfulness, and EMDR. She specializes in working with trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, dissociative disorders, personality disorders, grief & relationship issues. Katelyn works to help clients process a variety of traumatic and difficult experiences that cause people to feel stuck in their daily life.
