About this live event

This training will explore the current state of racism and race-based trauma. Racism can be traumatizing, emerging out of the confluence of historical, cultural, and individual traumatic experiences. We will explore our experiences, perceptions, beliefs, and behaviors that may challenge constructive relationship development. Finally, we will discuss practical, culturally Intelligent, trauma-responsive strategies to keep our work moving forward in pro-social activities and service delivery. This will be an opportunity to discuss how to address racism to serve best the people you support and connect with colleagues.

  • Analyze how historical, cultural, and individual experiences of racism contribute to race-based traumatic stress.
  • Evaluate the impact of race-based traumatic stress on individuals and communities.
  • Assess how personal perceptions, beliefs, and behaviors may create barriers to cross-cultural relationships and trauma-responsive service delivery.

  • Brandon Jones, MA

    Brandon is the Minnesota Association for Children’s Mental Health Executive Director & consultant. He specializes in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Historical and Intergenerational trauma, Social/Emotional Intelligence (EQ), Leadership, and Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI). Brandon holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Minnesota, a Masters in Community Psychology from Metropolitan State University, and a Masters in Psychotherapy (MFT) from Adler Graduate School. Brandon is also a 2013 Bush Foundation Leadership Fellow. He lives by the motto, “Live life with Purpose on Purpose.”
