Getting More Out of the Core

About this live event

This live interactive webinar will provide participants with an understanding of multi-directional core strengthening. Designed for therapists of all experience levels, the course will begin with a review of the relevant anatomy of the core, followed by an exploration of how these muscles interact. The anatomical planes and their associated movements will be discussed in relation to core function, with a focus on how these movements impact strength and stability. Additionally, an introduction to breathing and diaphragm function will be covered. The information will then be applied to clinical practice, where various methods for testing core strength will be examined, including potential limitations of these assessments. Participants will also learn about multi-directional interventions to enhance core stability. By synthesizing both subjective and objective patient information, therapists will gain the tools necessary to develop personalized treatment plans aligned with patient goals. Real-world case examples will be shared to reinforce key concepts and facilitate practical application.

  • Barbara Kutch, PT, DPT, CSCS

    Barbara has been a licensed physical therapist in New Jersey since 2010. After starting her career in bedside acute care, she transitioned to outpatient. Since joining Penn Medicine Princeton Health in 2013, Barb has worked with patients with orthopedic, neurologic and oncologic conditions. At Penn Medicine, she has developed return to golf and return to running programs for patients. Outside of the clinic, she has presented for the American Physical Therapy Association of New Jersey as well as the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In her downtime she enjoys running and drawing.
