Creating a Meaningful Life with Home Modifications

CE Hours 2

About this live event

85% of adults wish to remain living at home as long as possible. This reality can be achieved but only if home safety solutions are in place. Physical therapists and occupational therapists play pivotal roles in the rehabilitation and ongoing care of individuals with disabilities. They are uniquely positioned to assess patients' functional abilities within their home environments and to collaborate with them to address any barriers to independence and safety. Through this live interactive webinar, we'll look at the most common areas of the home that pose a threat to safety: Entrances and exits, levels and stairs, bathrooms, and anywhere else transfers take place. Lyndsey and Ashley will discuss tools, equipment and tricks to keep patients' home from feeling like an obstacle course and returning it to a comfortable and safe haven.

Learning Objectives

  • Name the most common barriers in a home.
  • Select home safety solutions ranging from “make-do” to “ideal,” learning about the total time investment as well as the financial aspects.
  • Discuss the funding resources that can help pay for modifications and equipment.
