Mindfulness has taken center stage in the counseling and psychotherapy world even though its real range and power are yet to be explored. In addition, our culture has embraced it, even to the point of providing a host of mindfulness apps for our cell phones. Research has shown that it is a powerful activator of therapeutic change in a wide variety of contexts ranging from anxiety to PTSD and addictions. Nonetheless, therapy applications of mindfulness and meditation lack the depth and power of the original Buddhist and Yoga applications. There is much in those ancient texts and traditions that remain unexplored and are yet to be developed for application in therapy. This seminar presents detailed information and instruction on the use of these little-known advanced techniques in and out of therapy. These advanced applications are designed and intended to produce effects that further increase the empowerment, well-being, and mental health of the individual practitioner, providing clinical help to therapists working with clients who can benefit from these techniques. The power and nature of mindfulness are thoroughly explained along with the dynamics of meditation in general. The presenter has studied, applied, and taught mindfulness and meditation techniques for over 50 years. He has traveled and studied in remote regions of Asia such as Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, China, Myanmar, Thailand, and Bali.
